Alternative Medicine – Garlic is a plant that has been used since ancient Egypt period. It has allicin substance that is usually used in medicine. This substance is the most important active biologist component and we can find it in garlic. This substance is an anti-bacterial substance in garlic. Many researches has been done for this substance and it found that this substance has an important effect for some health issues such as antioxidant.

The most well-known of the garlic benefit is the abundant of antioxidant for the body. Not only for prevention but it also known as anti-virus and bacterial. The substance in garlic can help to prevent the breed of bacteria, fungus, yeast, virus and also worm in the body.

An antioxidant is a molecule that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals, leading to chain reactions that may damage cells. Antioxidants such as thiols or ascorbic acid (vitamin C) terminate these chain reactions. The term "antioxidant" is mainly used for two different groups of substances: industrial chemicals which are added to products to prevent oxidation, and natural chemicals found in foods and body tissue which are said to have beneficial health effects. To balance the oxidative state, plants and animals maintain complex systems of overlapping antioxidants, such as glutathione andenzymes (e.g., catalase and superoxide dismutase) produced internally or the dietary antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E.
That was the benefits of garlic that contains anti-oxidant. And we know that anti-oxidant is very useful for our body, furthermore the substance contained in foods and we naturally get it.

So, how do we consume garlic to get its benefit? Here they are some of the ways to consume garlic.
It is important to know that it’s better to consume raw garlic. If you put up with its hot and the smell, it’s better to chew it so that it can blend with the enzyme contained in the spittle first. If you do not put up with its hot and strong smell you can directly swallow it. The side effect after eating garlic is feeling pain in your stomach. To reduce it you can consume the garlic with banana.
